Hola a todos!
I hope you've enjoyed this last week! I've enjoyed it while being soaking wet most days! There has been a TON of rain lately! Whenever it rains hard here, in front of our house turns into a river! Then to get out of our house...we have to cross "the river". It's not fun being wet throughout the whole day. The other thing is that Dominicans are scared of the rain so nobody wanted to help us with mission work. They all think that you'll instantly get the flu if you get wet in the rain! 🤨
On Friday, we took a journey to a house that's out in the country, where 2 of our friends live. We probably walked there and back for a total of like 3 miles. It was far, but we were able to have a really good lesson with them! 😃
Today we went and hiked up a huge mountain! It took us like 4 hours to get to the top! Then like 2 to get down. It was super fun though! We were able to have some great views of all of San Juan! I'll put some pictures and videos in Google Photos!
Spiritual Thought:
A lot of Dominicans use the phrase, "La fe mueve montañas." In English it's, "Faith moves mountains." I love how essential faith is in the plan of God for us here in our lives. Faith wouldn't be necessary if we could see God here on earth. It takes faith to believe in Him and follow His commandments. But what is faith? Faith is our beliefs in God and Jesus Christ but also the actions we do that show our beliefs. Scripture study and application to our lives is an act of faith. Praying daily to God is an act of faith. Going to Church each Sunday is an act of faith. There are many things we can do to show God that we believe and trust in Him. Today, I was ablevto complete a goal I've had for a while. For a long time, I've really wanted to pray on top of a mountain like the ancient prophets in the scriptures. Today I was able to have the opportunity and experience to talk with God on top of one of His greatest creations: mountains! I was able to talk with Him and express my feelings. I was able to ask Him for help. I prayed for our friends that we are desperately trying to help here in the Dominican Republic. It was an amazing experience! We don't always need to go to the top of a mountain to pray. If we can find a quiet place and talk with our Heavenly Father, He will answer us. We can feel closer to Him and feel the peace that He offers us. I invite you all to pray earnestly to God to help you in your lives. Also to thank Him for the blessings and miracles that He gives us daily. I know it will be a great experience for all of you too. I know that God hears our prayers and that He always wants to help us. He's there for us in every moment. We just need to choose to turn to Him. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I will find personal joy in the Love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, seek to Share my love for the Restored Gospel with family, friends, neighbors and others at school and work, and I will Invite someone to join with me and my family in worshipping Father in Heaven.
I will make a personal effort to meet each person who comes to the Keokuk Branch, and to see them as beloved son or daughter of Heavenly Father who loves them. I can do this by:
Learning their names and finding out what is important to them,
Inviting someone I know for a missionary teaching appointment at my home or joining with the missionaries at a teaching appointment, and
Attending a baptism and seeking out the new member as a friend.
I will pray for each member for whom I have ministering responsibilities by his or her name, including those who may be less-active or have strayed from the covenant path, that Heavenly Father will guide me to help them to receive the ordinances and blessings of eternal life.
